Democracy Lost

You call it fair; you call it free,
A land of choice, democracy.
Yet here we stand, our rights undone,
No ballot cast, no voice, no sun.

You shape our town, you change our street,
Decisions made where powers meet.
Yet in the halls where votes are tallied,
Our names erased, our rights invalid.

A council rules, but not for us,
A voice ignored—unfair, unjust
You tax, you build, you shape the powers,
Yet silence wraps these thoughts of ours.

A hollow right, a broken trust,
Democracy reduced to dust.
For when the people stand apart,
The system rots at its own heart.

So hear us now, the voiceless crowd,
Denied, ignored, yet strong and proud.
For votes withheld will fan the flame—
Without us there, it's not the same.
